Areeni LTD is creating a pioneering marketplace that will use e-commerce to change the lives of Muslims across the globe. InshaAllah

Our Mission

We are on a mission to harness the collective economic power of 1.9 billion Muslims and help create a better standard of life for our people everywhere. The Areeni marketplace aims to redistribute wealth to key areas within the ummah by working closely with charities and other Muslim organisations. So we can grow stronger, together.

How it works

It’s simple really. We connect Muslim sellers to Muslim buyers and charge a small seller subscription fee and commission per item sold. This helps us to generate an operating profit which will then fund charities, community projects, dawah, and education centres, and helps to grow Muslim owned businesses. This means everybody involved benefits not only in this life but in the hereafter. Alhamdulillah!

Brick and Mortar or Online Retailers

For example. Shakeel owns a mobile phone repair shop on the High Street and wants to use the Areeni marketplace to sell LCD screens online. He signs up to Areeni for £20 per month. When he sells a screen for £100 he pays a 5% commission fee on the selling price of the item. So in this example, he receives £95 and £5 plus £20 per month in hasanat for partaking in the mission.

Private sellers

Jamal has just upgraded his gaming console and wants to sell his old one. He lists it on the Areeni marketplace using his free private seller account. The price is £170. He sells the console and pays an 8% fee. He receives £156.40 straight into his bank account. The remaining £13.60 is registered as sadaqah for choosing to support Muslim causes through the Areeni marketplace.

The Global Islamic Economic Situation

The global Muslim consumer spending is worth a staggering $2.02 trillion a year. If we were a country we would have the 8th biggest economy in the world. However, if we look at GDP per capita we would in reality be the 9th poorest country in the world. There is a massive need for the ummah to pull together and fix our collective economic situation so that we can strategically tackle some of the other pressing issues which include the huge amount of poverty, the lack of education, the seemingly unstoppable refugee crisis, and the dwindling resources of our lands.

Together we can make a difference

The estimated global Muslim wealth in savings and assets (excluding homes) is somewhere between $22 trillion – $24 trillion. This is a remarkable amount of wealth. But are we effective in our use of it? The short answer is no. But here’s the good news. We as an ummah are waking up. Charities are realising that the ummah cannot survive off handouts alone. There are deeper issues to fix. These include rebuilding economies through better business practices, preparing future generations through better education, spreading the message of Islam effectively, and fighting Islamophobia through media efforts like 5Pillars.
